Your Questions, Answered

How do I join a meeting for the first time?

To join a meeting for the first time, you have two options. You can sign up for our eList through our website, and you will receive regular updates on upcoming events and meeting details. Alternatively, you can reach out to one of our club officers via their Tufts email to be added directly to the meeting invitation list. Feel free to also take a look at the google calendar on our events page to see what we’re up to and what you’re interested in! We look forward to welcoming you to our vibrant Israeli Culture Club community!

Who can participate?

You do not have to be a member or Israeli to participate in our events. Everyone is welcome to attend and explore Israeli culture with us. However, being a member allows you to receive exclusive updates and additional information about upcoming club events, helping you stay connected and engaged with our community. Please note that some of our events may involve speaking Hebrew or knowledge of Israeli culture; if you are not sure if this is relevant to you, please come any way!

We love to see new faces :)

How often does Tufts Israeli Culture Club meet?

The Tufts Israeli Culture Club holds regular biweekly meetings in person to provide a consistent space for cultural exploration, discussions, and community building. In addition to these biweekly gatherings, we host larger events to commemorate significant cultural occasions such as Eurovision and Holocaust Remembrance Day, or more simple cultural meetings like cooking classes! These special events offer unique opportunities to come together and celebrate the richness of Israeli culture on a larger scale. Stay tuned to our event calendar and announcements to join us at these exciting gatherings!

How is the Tufts Israeli Culture Club different from other Israel-affiliated clubs at Tufts?

The Tufts Israeli Culture Club stands out from other Israel-affiliated clubs at Tufts University in several significant ways. Unlike other clubs, our primary focus is on celebrating Israeli culture without engaging in political discussions. We aim to provide an apolitical space where members can come together to have fun, explore traditions, art, music, and cuisine, and build lasting connections within a welcoming and inclusive community. By prioritizing cultural appreciation and positive interactions, we create a unique and enjoyable experience for all members, fostering a spirit of community and celebration of Israeli heritage.

How do you prevent political conversation at your club meetings?

We take proactive measures to ensure a respectful and apolitical environment during our meetings and events. Our officers play a vital role in maintaining this atmosphere by making efforts to prevent any political conversation that arises and redirect the focus back to cultural topics. If necessary, officers will regroup and remind the members about the club's apolitical nature to uphold the spirit of cultural appreciation and celebration that defines our community. By fostering an environment centered around fun and cultural exploration, we ensure that our club remains a positive space for all members to enjoy. We recognize that engaging in political dialogue is essential to facilitating the exchange of diverse perspectives to foster informed decision-making, though we are here to make a space that solely embraces Israeli culture.

Can I lead my own event for the Tufts Israeli Culture Club?

Absolutely! We welcome and encourage members to take an active role in shaping the Tufts Israeli Culture Club by leading their own events. If you have a creative idea or a particular aspect of Israeli culture you'd like to showcase, we, the executive board members, would be thrilled to support you in planning and organizing the event. We will review it and assure that it falls in line within our club’s guidelines. Don't hesitate to step forward and share your passion with us!
